What is a boundary? Hi! My name is Teresa Schroeder and I am a
Licensed Professional Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and a proud Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
I help people build boundaries and this helps:
feelings of shame
guilt
trauma
people pleasing
feeling like the black sheep
Interpersonal conflict at work or with family.
I use Somatic Experiencing to work with trauma. Some of it is talking, but it goes deeper by working with the fight, flight, freeze of the nervous system. The theory being that when we have a trauma where we encounter a force that we cannot fight or get away from we freeze. The freeze will stay with us to keep us safe from danger. "The Somatic Experiencing® approach facilitates the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions. " https://traumahealing.org/about-us/
